DALEAnnie4 March 18939 March 1893DALE, ANNIE Departed this life, at Nashville, Tenn., on March 4, 1893 at 11:15 AM, Mrs. Major Annie DALE, better known as Staff Captain Annie SHERLEY, of the Salvation Army. She, with her husband and daughter were the first pioneers of the Army in America and Canada, beginning their first open air meeting, Germantown Road, Philadelphia, PA, October 5, 1879. Subsequently opening the work in Baltimore, MD at Hoy's Tabernacle, June 5, 1881. Her life work is well known here
as well as throughout the States and Canada by hundreds of friends in times when there was no eye to pity, nor hand to help who stood the effrontery of howling mobs and many who called themselves Christians. Notwithstanding by her undoubted faith and perseverance she pressed on through these difficulties, that thousands of souls were brought to the knowledge of the divine words of the gospel in the day of judgment will rise up and call her blessed.
