Will of John Gill, of Baltimore County
dated 10 Nov 1810, proved 19 Oct 1822 and 6 Nov 1822

In the name of God, Amen: I, John Gill of Baltimore County in the State of Maryland being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding, but wishing to settle my wordly affairs do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, to wit,

Imprimis it is my Will and desire that my body shall be decently buried under the direction of my Executrix hereinafter named.

Item. it is my Will and desire that all my just debts be paid.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughters Catharine Cooper, Mary Kealer, Sarah Dines, Elizabeth Ford, Ann Matthews, Elenor Selmon each five Shillings and no more of my Estate.

Item. it is my Will and desire to sell that part of a tract of Land called Rogues Partis and part of a tract of land called Crays addition enlarged both containing Sixty nine acres & an half more or less to pay off a judgment against me in favour of Charles Gorsuch in Court.

Item. it is my Will and desire that my Sons John and Charles Gill is to have that part of a tract of land called Butlers farm containing Eight four Acres more or less during their natural lives and no more of my Estate.

Item. It is my Will and desire that my Daughter Leah Gill is to have the said eighty four acres of Land her heirs and assigns forever at my Sons John and Charles Gill death also one Cow and Calf one feather Bed and furniture that is now in her possession and no more of my Estate.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son Nicholas Gill five Shillings and no more of my Estate.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son Joshua Gill all that part of a tract of land called Batsons forrest containing two hundred and fifty Acres more or less to him his heirs and assigns forever, Provided him the said Joshua Gill bring no charge for maintaining my Wife Sarah Gill or right of Dower or any other person or persons if him the said Joshua Gill or any other brings any claim whatever the said Batsons Forrest containing two hundred and fifty acres of land more or less is to be sold for discharging and paying all claims for her maintenance and no more of my Estate.

Item. I give and bequeath unto Mary Tracy Daughter of Absolum Barney disceased (sic) all my Personal Estate of every discription (sic) whatever.

And Lastly. I do nominate and appoint Mary Tracy Daughter of Absolum Barney disceased Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Will by me made and declaring this my last and only Will.

In withness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this tenth day of November Eighteen Hundred and ten.

Signed, Sealed and Published and declared by the Testator as for his last Will and Testament in the persence of each of us who at his request have hereunto set our names as Witnesses:

Baltimore County Sct. On the 19th day of October 1822 came Stephen Gill of Nicholas, and on the 6th day of November in the same year came Jacob Caples, two of the subscribing evidences to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of John Gill, Senr. late of said County deceased, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Alighty God that they did see the Testator sign and Seal this Will, that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament, that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, and that they together with Patrick Myres the other subscribing evidence thereto, subscribed their names as Witnesses to this Will, in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other.
