Governor Robert Bowie

Robert Bowie was born to Captain William Bowie and Margaret Sprigg.
He was the brother of Walter Bowie.  He was born at Mattaponi, near
Nottingham, Prince George's County, in March 1750 and died in 1818.

"Annabella Sneed," a former indentured servant in colonial Annapolis, will give us a window into the life of people who worked under harsh conditions to pay off various debts such as passage to America. Some of them became people of property and power.

 "The War of 1812 – Lecture on early food and history leading
up to the war, what was consumed and where it came from."

The author of five cookbooks combines her love of history and food in this cooking demonstration of foods typical of the 1812 period, followed by a time for book signing.

Fred Tutman, Riverkeeper for the Patuxent,

 "Folklore and History of the River plus
today’s Citizen’s Advocacy Campaign"

Tracing his ancestry back to the 1700’s in the historic town of Queen Anne, Mr. Tutman lives there today on a working farm founded by his great grandfather. He will discuss the challenging work of managing a citizens’ advocacy campaign in a watershed of nearly 1 million residents, as well as the enduring history and folklore of his river where citizens are working to protect their sense of place, heritage, and stakeholder interest in clean water for Maryland’s future.

Chapter meetings are held at 6:45 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of the months of
January, February, March, April, May, September, October and November
at the Belair Mansion in Bowie, Maryland, unless otherwise noted.
