The Murray Funeral Home was located on Nichols Avenue in southeast Washington. The Murray Funeral Home operated from 1890 to 1945. Mr. Murray provided services for the residents of Washington, DC, especially the southeast section of Washington, DC, as well as those that lived in Southern Maryland. There are numerous names in the records that are synonymous with Prince George's, Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's counties, i.e., Addison, Milstead, Clements, Glascoe, Sansbury, Johnson, Pickerall, Brashear, Lanham, Ball, Robey, Tudge, Hancock, Scott, Biven, Hall, Price, Mullikin, Sandy, Harvey, Pyles, etc. As Mr. Murray's business grew the records show burials in Charles, Calvert, St. Mary's, Baltimore counties and Virginia. The full set of books is like a roll call of the families of Southern Maryland.
