The Murray Funeral Home was located on Nichols Avenue in southeast Washington and operated from 1890 to 1945. Mr. Murray provided services for the residents of Washington, DC, especially the southeast section of Washington, DC, as well as those that lived in Southern Maryland. All volumes have an every name index and appendices of the churches, cemeteries, hospitals and miscellaneous information from the records.
There are numerous names in the records that are synonymous with Southern Maryland, i.e., Allen, Baldwin, Beall, Belt, Berry, Cator, Cox, Davis, Ferguson, Edelin, Grimes, Hardy, Havenner, Johnson, King, Lusby, Mattingly, Mitchell, Mudd, Murphy, Naylor, Owens, Padgett, Payne, Pumphery, Pyles, Rawlings, Robey, Scott, Selby, Shegogue, Soper, Swann, Sweeney, Talbert, Tippett, Ward, Wood, Young, etc. The records show burials in Charles, Calvert, St. Mary's, and Baltimore counties, Virginia and Pennsylvania. The records in Volume 3 provides more information on the deceased that wasn't available in the very earl records of Volumes 1 and 2.
