I am interested in tracing my roots from my father’s side, his father (DINGES) and his mother (ROLFE).

I was told that my grandmother maybe related to the John Rolfe who married Pocahontas. Also, that her grandmother was a CURTIS, and is related to General Robert E. Lee. The following is all the information I have:

My Grandfather is Martin Dinges, DOB unknown, but he was a Marine Sergeant during the Spanish American War. He met my grandmother, Maude Rolfe around 1905. They lived at 4307-40th Place, Brentwood, Maryland. My grandmother died in November 1969 and is buried with her husband at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.

My Father is David William Dinges, DOB 6 June 1914, in Brentwood, Maryland. He had two bothers: John Dinges (retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer, who served during WWII), and Edward Dinges, who was a US Marine, killed in the Pacific during WWII. He has two sisters: Dorothy (Fiste) Dinges and Louise (Lynn) Dinges.

My Mother is Mary Ella (Holden) Dinges DOB 5 Feb 1927, in Tate County, Mississippi. Married to my father on 26 September 1946.

My Brother is Steven Thomas Dinges, DOB 27 May 1951, in PG County Hospital.

I am David William Dinges, Jr., DOB 21 June 1947, in Takoma Park, Maryland. I retired after 20 years of service to the US Army in 1986. I work in Vicenza Italy as a Department of the Army Civilian.

I just wanted to let you know of the Bicentennial celebration of Hyattstown, Md. which will be held in Oct. The festival will be held Oct. 17. I am especially interested in it since my 3rd great grandfather Jesse HYATT is given credit for founding the town.

Is the Prince George's Roots Web Project doing something to advertise this event to the many people who must have ancestors who originated from that little town? I hope so. The only way I found out about it was through Dona CUTTLER of S.C. who has done much research on HYATT and has even written a book on Hyattstown. We are both of the same HYATT line. If you can in anyway get the message out regarding the Bicentennial, I would appreciate it. Thanks
