I understand that there is monument on 15 th Street in Washington DC between Constitution Ave and East St which was erected by the DAC, 25 Apr 1936. On it is an inscription "To the original patentees prior to 1700 whose land grants embrace the site of the Federal City." Could you provide me with a transcript of the information written on this monument? i.e. the names and dates of the original patentees and any other information on the monument. One of my ancestors, William ATCHESON, is probably among those names, as he was one of the first 18 "original patentees." Do you have any other information regarding this Wm ATCHESON in your files? And information on this land grant and it's sale?
