After a search of over 20 years, I might have finally had a break through in researching my family lines in Maryland. I'm looking for anyone that might be working on a Benjamin VANHORN who married Charity SANDERS in St. James Protestant Episcopal church in Baltimore on Feb 15, 1791.

It would appear they had a son, James born in 1793 and Benjamin might have died in 1795. His wife Charity could have remarried a Michael KELLY on December 20, 1796 in Loudoun, VA (where a bunch of VANHORNS lived that could of been decendants of Gabriel Peter VANHORN).

There is also a record of a Charity SANDERS marrying a John KENNEDY on October 24, 1800 in Richmond Co, GA (where some more of the collateral lines to this family I'm looking at resided). His father is possibly Colonel Gabriel Peterson VANHORN (Maryland Militia) who married Mary VAN ZANT (1772). He was born 10/5/1742 Bucks Co, PA and died April 26, 1815 in Vannsville, Prince George's Co, MD. Gabriel's parents were Garbriel VAN HORN (b.1715 d. 1789) and Martha Brelsford.

The only FGS I have for this family indicates 4 children (two and two), but the 1790 Maryland fed census (Baltimore) shows 9 males (including Gabriel) in the house, 8 over 16 and 1 under 16; 4 females in the house, and 2 slaves. The 1800 Maryland fed census shows Gabriel living in Prince George's Co with one male over 45 (Gabriel), 1 male 26-45, 1 male 16-26; 1 female over 45, 1 female 16-26, one otherfree person, and 2 slaves. So I know that Gabriel had quite a larger family than I currently have on my older FGS for him.

Is anyone looking at the Benjamin VANHORN/Gabriel Peterson VAN HORN lines in and around Baltimore, MD in the 1780-1800 time frames? I would love to share some additional thoughts and information. Also looking for a VAN HORN researcher that might be able to help with some info in the Baltimore area. I am searching for the following line of PHELPS. My Paternal Great Grandfather Joseph PHELPS. He was married to Caroline BACHELOR. Her Mother was Caroline DUPREE. His son, my Grandfather, was Clarence A. PHELPS born about 1885, was Baptized at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, Washington D.C. Married Alice GROVE 1905 and died 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pa. He had three brothers, Leo, Alex, and Joseph. He also had three sisters, Estelle, Agnes & Mamie. Clarence A. PHELPS was the oldest of the children and was living with his mother in Alexandria, VA. when he met and married my Grandmother Alice GROVE of Maryland. I believe that this line of PHELPS may have come out of North Carolina and migrated to Virginia then to Maryland. Not real sure of that. What you see above is all that I have on this line. Therefore, any and all information on these folks will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
