I have traced my lineage to Charles Fair of Fredrick Co. MD. I am descended by: (1) Charles Fair 1753-1792 Fredrick Co. MD, married Mary Slider abt. 1777 (2) John Fair 1786-1829 Fredrick Co. MD, (3) Charles Fair 1810-1888 Fredrick Co. MD, (4) Samuel Tobias Fair 1849 Fredrick Co. MD -1917 Adams Co. PA, (5) Harrison Stanley Fair 1893-1942 Adams Co. PA, (6) Harrison Glenn Fair 1926 - Adams Co. PA (my father), (7) Donald Fair 1946 - Cumberland Co. PA (me).
I have visited the Fredrick Co. MD courthouse several weeks ago and photocopied five land transfer records recorded between 11/20/1773 and 5/3/1797 and the will/final account of Charles Fair recorded March 26, 1792. I have scanned these copies into my computer and am in the process of transcribing them into text documents. On this trip I also visited the Taneytown, MD Lutheran Church cemetery, saw the gravesite of Charles Fair 1810-1888 and Elizabeth Slaybaugh (1815-1887) his wife. Also saw the headstone of their infant son George M. Fair died 9/12/1837 age 4 mo. 10 days. I am trying to find additional information on Charles Fair prior to November 20, 1773. I will be going back to the Fredrick Co. MD courthouse to seek additional information before this date. Thanks.
