Cousin Found In Germany
I have been researching the Roland family, as well as a few other families from Prince Georges County. Last August I put a query at your site. I was really anxious at first and thought I would hear from someone immediately. But I only received a few responses, and though interesting, none of them offered any real information.
But, this April 1998, I received a short e-mail from Susan Harnwell, who lives in Germany. She said she just found out in her research that her great-great grandparents were William H. Roland and Mary E. Roland. These are also my great-great grandparents. Apparently, her great-grandmother is Agnes Roland, a sister of my great grandmother Gertrude. I did not know that Gertrude had a sister named Agnes. It has led to many other e-mail messages back and forth and we are slowly moving along with the Roland research. Susan is avid genealogist and has a web site on the Massachusetts Infantry. I would have never found Susan Harnwell without the query that I put in. And she lives only about 3 hours from my brother in Europe.
Thank you.
