Looking for information on Nicholaus JULIEN, born Sep 1832, who lived in Somerset County, Princess Anne, in 1900. Originally from Philadelphia and Losheim, Germany.
I'm looking for information on the marriage of Susan Jane BRITTINGHAM, bc 1829, and a Thomas BRITTINGHAM, mar 1850. Susan Jane is the dau of Elijah BRITTINGHAM and Julia CATLIN. They lived in Somerset Co. in 1870. I am looking for information on her mother, Julian CATLIN, her parents, siblings etc. In Elijah's will it mentions he purchased a tract of land in 1852 from Charles Blades, who bought it from Robert Catlin's widow Eleanor, who presumably was Julia's mother. I can find no Julia listed with any of the Catlins in Somerset Co. She died before 1848, as Elijah remarried in 1848 and he moved to Worcester Co. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Searching for information about the parents of Thomas BRUFF, who married Elizabeth (Betty?) WHITE, widow, on August 23, 1761 in Coventry Parish, Rehobeth, Somerset, Maryland. Based on a silver ladle which has been passed down from generation to generation, Thomas is believed to be a descendant of an earlier Thomas BRUFF (1648 - 1702), silversmith, who emigrated from London, England, to Maryland about 1665 and settled in Talbot. Many in the BRUFF family were silversmiths, clockmakers, innkeepers or a combination of the three. Most lived in Talbot or Kent Counties. Bruffs Island is named for a member of this family. Thomas may have been a Somerset County landowner; he is not believed to have been a silversmith himself. Mrs. White may have been the Elizabeth SCOTT who married Stevens WHITE before she married Thomas. If so, she is the daughter of John and Elizabeth SCOTT. Thomas and Elizabeth are the parents of James BRUFF (1762 - 1803), who married Zipporah (Japporah?) HORSEY (1764 - 1816), daughter of Revell HORSEY and Sarah FOSSETT of Somerset County.
My ancestor Henry SMITH died in Stafford Co., Virginia about 1789. He was born about 1714. Several family sources state that his family originally settled in Somerset County, Maryland and that his father was also Henry SMITH. The family supposedly came from England (possibly Staffordshire) and were members of the Church of England (at least in Virginia). I would appreciate any assistance in establishing whether or not my Henry's family came from Somerset county Maryland.
A few years ago, I found the testimony of one Isaac 'Crow' STERLING to a Mr. Crisfield in the mid 1800s. He was testifying regarding the ongoing dispute between Maryland and Virginia over the location of the border. Isaac STERLING gave many tidbits of history, including the names of his father and grandfather. He is my wife's great-great grandfather, Can anyone help me find that site?
I am searching for information about a William STEVENS in Somerset County, Maryland who transported (I assume he paid for the transportation) my 11th grt-grandfather to America aboard the ship Katherine that arrived in America 8 Nov 1678 from England. My ancestor's name was Matthew MCBEE (MOCKBEE). By 1692 Matthew was a well-to-do tobacco farmer. Matthew was from Scotland and would have been about 4 or 5 years old at the time. If anyone has any info on the relationship or anything between Matthew and William or any more info on William Stevens, I would be grateful.

Interested in Sally ACWORTH (possibly the daughter of Richard Acworth, who d. 1798, and Elizabeth - mentions Sally in will), who married John GIBSON in 1808 and had son Isaac Beauchamp Gibson. Also interested in where the BEAUCHAMP connection comes from.
I've recently purchased a home in Wicomico County that belonged to the ELLINGSWORTH family. They lived in it while the farm was a part of Somerset County (from 1842 until at least 1866). I was looking for any information or photographs about the property. I know they had 4 children and Josiah was murdered in 1866.
