I am looking for the father and mother of Thomas W. OLIPHANT. There is a Thomas M. OLIPHANT buried in Delmar, but he is not the one. Thomas W. owned a farm off the Zion Road near Salisbury, MD. He was b. Mar.10,1839, d. Feb. 24, 1888. Married to Elizabeth FREENEY and had 5 daughters, Mary E. (married a Ward), Margaret J. (married George Brown), Willa A. (married Joseph Lecates), Sarah H. (married an Ennis) and Laura E. (married Henry E. Bailey).

Have recently learned that my great uncle, Dr. Joseph ROBERTS, during World War I, was made a Commissioner of the National Council of Defense for the State of Maryland. He practiced medicine in Salisbury, from about 1907 to 1919. He was African-American. Does anyone know what this defense council was? I am looking for history of the MESSICK family from Tyaskin, MD. My grandfather's name was Linwood and he had a twin brother named Lynford (Linford?).
