Provided by Craig O'Donnell dadadata@friend.ly.net and transcribed from the Archives of Maryland.

[Joseph Dashiell, Worcester County to Gov. Lee]

Sir I this moment Recd yours by the Barer Mr Wilmat Inclosing

Sundry Acts of Assembly &c and a Commission for purchasing Salted Provision &c. I Could

wish you had fixt a price that you would have been willing I should have given for Each kind

their is a Quantity of Salt pork and Backon, which they hold very high & I have reason to

beleave in spite of all the Vigilence that has been used to prevent it that our people are Dayly

sending to Philadelphia pork &c. Inclos'd you have a return of what Provision we have

procured under the Act for an immediat suply of flower &c. We Expect but Very Little more in:

I have sent Near three thousand Bushls. Corn to the head of Elk and hope to have the remainder

aflote in a few Days: Two hundred & Eighty Bushls of Corn shipt to Trenton town but I have

not heard of its arival. Should Be much Oblidge to you for the prices of Salted Provision and

Likewise the Prices of Cartage, as I have promis'd those who have Carted the Corn to allow them

what ever is given in the public Service for the same Work. and if I Could posably get it to pay

them the money as they are Generally poore men that Realy want it, and the Collectors of the Tax

refuse to take their Certificates for their Taxes, I imagine that if your Excellency Could send

down the Cash and fix a price that abought one hundred Barels of pork, might be had in this County

and perhaps a Considerable Quantity of Bacon, tho I do not think they will part with a Barel for

Certificats or Tobacco. You may Rely on my Exertions, in every respect NB. I should be much Oblidge

To you for A Certificate for my Commissions on the purchase of Corn for 6273-1/2 Dollars.
