The Penley Corner Church will be open on 2nd Sunday in July. (DTBA)
All had a great time on 12 July 1997 at the
Penley Corner Church of South Auburn, Maine. The doors opened at 2pm for the annual all-faith service. The Rev Richard Cullen of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church of Auburn, Maine gave the sermon assitanted by Wilbur M. Penley of Forest Hill, MD., leading the service. Others taking part:Norma Rice-Gould, organist; Elaine Penley Orway, great book; Elizabeth Vickery, programs; Maurice Penley and Edward Staples, ushers. After the service we all were invited for refreshments at the home of Charles & Louise Sylvester. They put on quite a spread for us on their back lawn. My youngest daughter helped with the drinks and we all visited with old friends, some which we had not seen since last year. (see Lewiston Sun-Journal of Lewiston, Maine issue 5 Jul 1997 for photo of the Church page 14c]
If you missed it, please come next year. It is always held about the same time each year after the 4th of July.
