The 1800 federal census |
|
|
| During the 1800 federal enumeration, today's Newry was known
as Bostwick, York County, in the Maine District of
Massachusetts. Only the head of
household's full name was requested by the census taker, the
remaining household members were listed by age alone. Three
columns of information from this census are not transcribed here
because there were no entries made in Bostwick for the
catagories. Missing here are the "all others", "slaves"
and "remarks" categories. The returns for Bostwick are found on National Archives Census microfilm in series M32, roll 8, page: 1074. Most larger libraries have at least the earliest U.S. census films available for patron viewing. They can also be viewed at LDS local family history centers. |
