Penobscot Men in the 4th Maine Infantry

All Penobscot men listed served in Company H.

George P. WOOD (listed only as George Wood in the book) was promoted to 1st Lieut. in 19th Maine Infantry

Later it states that Corp. George P. Wood received the Kearny cross for courage and valor on the part of enlisted men in combat.

George P. WOOD fought at Fredericksburg. George P. Wood is listed as a Sergeant at Gettysburg.

Elijah H. GRINDLE - fought at Gettysburg

George W. STEELE - fought at Gettysburg, captured Emmitsburg, but escaped
