I John Condon Testify and say that some day in or about the month of August 1779 Mr. Thomas Thompson of Deer Island, a Mr Noyes together with several other men, came to my house in Majorbigwaduce township and insisted that I should go with them, and shew them the way to Archibald Haneys, said that they were a going to take Haneys Cattle - I went to Haneys house with Noyes which Thompson & the other men collected of Haneys Cattle two Oxen and two young Cows or heiffers which we were a Driving the Cattle to my house. Thompson and three or four others who as soon as they had got the Cattle together took a Boat from the shore, and compelled William Haney Son to Archibald Haney to go with him to Haneys Island (unreadable) after (unreadable) Thompson came with the Boat to my landing with a number of Sheep in her which they said they got off Haneys Island - then said Thomas Thompson left the Boat that had the Sheep, and insisted upon my going with them to Pilote them along with the Cattle they had taken from Haney, which I did round the shore for near two miles to a small piece of Marsh where we found a number of other men unknown to me - Thompson then with the assistance that were with him killed the two Cows and put them into the Boats, and drove the two Oxen into the water and towed them off - Further saith not

Lincoln Ss. December 27th 1787 Then John Condon personally appeared before me, and after being carefully examined and cautioned to testify the whole truth, made oath to the truth of the within declaration by him subscribed, taken at the request of Archibald Haney, to be used at the court of common pleas, to be held at Hallowell within and for the county of Lincoln aforesaid, on the second Tuesday of January next, in the trial of an action or plea of tresspass on the case, in which action the said Archibald is pltf:, and Thomas Thompson is dft:; the deponent living more than thirty miles from the place of tryal is the cause of this caption, the adverse party was duly notified, but did not attend at the caption.
