The Tremont Historical Society Program on July 28 at 7 pm. will host Steven Haynes of the Maine State Granite Museum (Beechhill Crossroads, Mt. Desert).  He will share his broadly researched knowledge of  the history of quarrying in Maine and the diverse kinds of granite found on MDI and the Outer Islands.  His enthusiasm for the history and science of stone work will be greatly enjoyed.   Attenders might enjoy bringing a sample of granite to be identified.  The Program will be held at the Community Center (Gym) at the Tremont School on Tremont Rd.
