First (3)three names: Am told this could be a mass grave for the victims of the flu epidemic.
Last (4)four names: Buried in the R.C. section.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if any of these graves had headstones, and if anybody has any information on these people, like who their parents are e.t.c. I believe that they are all part of my family as Manuel Geros was my great-great grandfather.
Any info greatly appreciated

Subject:
Names of people:  Samuel MERRYPOR or MERRIPORI
Relevant Dates: 1860 - 1870
Location: Lacona or Lakon
Island/Area: Vanuatu
Details: I have just started tracing my family tree.  Samuel Merrypor is my great grandfather who was brought here to Australia to work on the sugar cane fields.
I have very little information about him except a document which states that he was 31 years of age in 1903 and his place of birth was Lacona, New Hebrides.
I have been told that possibly the name of this island - Lacona has been changed, but not really sure if this is correct.
Would appreciate help of any kind.

Subject:  A Brickwall in the Solomon Islands
Names of people:  James GOSS
Relevant Dates: b 1854
Location: maternity ward
Island/Area: Solomon Islands
Details: Good morning to all in Solomon Islands. Could SKS direct me to the best avenue to try and break down a "brickwall" in my genealogy research? Where is the best site to post a message for the attention of a nurse currently working in a maternity ward in the Solomon Islands? I am researching descendants of James GOSS, b 1854, Barnstaple, Devon, England. He was a member of the RN based in Plymouth, ca 1900. It is believed that a g-g-grand
daughter of his is the nurse. She usually lives in NZ according to info currently held. Any assistance would be welcome.

Subject:  A Samoan Missionary Named Iosia
Names of people:  Iosia; Namaniane; Palauni TUIASOSOPO
Relevant Dates: 1830s
Location: Ellice Islands (now Tuvalu); Lifou; Port Vila
Island/Area: New Caledonia
Details: Somewhere in the 1830s or maybe a bit later, a Samoan missionary named Iosia ( who is our great, great grandfather) was traveling through the Pacific with his wife and some European missionaries.  When they got to the Ellice Islands I think that is now Tuvalu, his first wife died during childbirth.  After his wife's burial, the missionaries sailed again, further up the Pacific, and got to the island of Lifou where the chief of that island asked the missionaries why Iosia does not have a wife, the chief was told that Iosia's wife just died and the chief gave to Iosia as his wife the daughter of his brother.  Her name was Namaniane.  In our forefather's diary, we understand that she was dark skinned and beautiful and very stately.  Our family's features reflect that.  We have a relative who use to be the SPC Commissioner, Palauni Tuiasosopo, and I remember he told my mom that the mayor of Lifou reminded him of our looks.
We have no knowledge of Namaniane's surname except in the 1980's there was a contingency from Western Samoa in Port Vila for a government meeting and they were given gifts from the family of Namaniane on our behalf.  I don't know how far apart Port Vila and Lifou are, because a few of us have been that way but we are now searching.. because our family has grown so much and we want our children to know that we have family in that part of the Pacific.  We tried to contact the French Embassy here in Honolulu and the liaison officer to New Caledonia said the names I mentioned are similar to the names he heard there, but that was it.  Would sure appreciate your help.
Thank you so much.
