I am seeking the final resting place for: JACOB CARR b. 1769 MA, NH, or MEÝ
d. 1832 in Berlin, Franklin County, Maine ANNA BROWN CARR HOWLAND b. abt 1770
NH died 1834 Avon, Franklin Co, ME. Jacob and Anna Brown Carr lived in Chesterville,
Franklin Co, ME from 1793 to after 1812. All their children were born in Chesterville.
OtherÝrecords I have is show Township 6, Avon, Berlin, Chesterville, and Phillips
as places of residence. I have searched the Franklin County Cemeteries on line
and can not find them. I found their son and grandson in Riverside and/or Evergreen.
After Jacob died Anna Brown Carr married Elijah Howland of Avon. She does not
appear to be buried with Elijah Howland. I wonder if anyone can help locate
these people, or if someone has a suggestion of what I might do now. Penny

Misc. [April 22 2004]
I have questions on a few individuals of Maine. My 5th great-grandfather,
Joseph Boynton,Revolutionary soldier,Lt.& Adjt.,NH 2nd and 3rd regiment.
In his later years, Joseph moved to Cornish, Me. His grandson, Sylvester
Boynton, was in the 9th Maine regiment co.E.-and later moved to Hiram, Me. My
questions are:
1.) Where precisely are these two graves located?
2.) Are the graves currently being cared for?
3.) If you have no information on this subject, where could I find the answers?
My second query is about my 5th great-grandfather,James Eastman, Revolutionary
war soldier in John Allan's eastern Indian Dept., pvt., N.H. Col. Poor reg.It
is my understanding the gravesite is located on Hiram Hill on the "old
Richardson farm"in Hiram, Me. My questions are:
1.) where precisely is the grave located (map)?
2.) Is the grave currently being cared for?
3.) If information is not available, where could I retrieve it
My third query is about The Tripp cemetery in Hiram , Maine.
My 4th great-grandfather is Richard Tripp. He is in what I believe is a private
cemetery located near or on tripptown rd.in So. Hiram. The problem seems to
be that it may have been removed. I am not certain, but there may now be a trailer
in it's place.Richard Tripp and Betsy(Eastman) Tripp and others are buried in
this site. I could not seem to locate it, even with a map. My questions are:
1.) Are there any laws in the state of Maine pertaining to the removal of private
graveyards on purchased property?
2.) Would you know the precise location of this particular cemetery(map)?
My fourth query is about the Parker brothers of Cornish/So. Hiram Maine,(sons
of Nathaniel Parker and Catherine Pendexter).
Thomas Parker is my 3rd great-grandfather. He was a Civil war soldier in the
29th infantry regt. company B. He resided in So. Hiram, Me.I have not been able
to locate his gravesite. My questions are:
1.) Is his grave located in Maine?
2.) Is the grave currently being cared for?
My final query is (whew) about Thomas Parker's brothers, Henry who served
in the 17th infantry Maine, co. F, Joseph who served in the 12th infantry
Maine,and Isaac, 17th Maine regt. Company F.
I have (thankfully)located these graves. They do have veteran markers on them.
I was particularly interested in Isaac's grave. It is stated on his headstone
that he died May 6, 1864 in the Wilderness battles in Virginia. My Questions
are:
1.) Are there currently and Civil war memorials particularly naming mortally
wounded soldiers of Maine?
2.) If so, where are they located?
All 4 Parker brothers lived in Hiram,Me. at the time of their enlistments.
Any help on these subjects would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Respectfully,
Candace M. Corthell

Burnnham [posted 29 February 2004]
I'm still looking for the burial site of my grandfather, Charles Edwin
Burnham who was run over by a train by the Presumpscott River, between
Falmouth and Portland, Maine. He was buried in the summer of 1903. Some
say it was the Old Cemetery at Allen's Corner in Portland, but others say
they moved it somewhere else to make the corner a larger place. Haven't
given up yet.
Years ago the undertaker S. S. Rich say they don't have records that far
back, and they are now out of business. Charles son, Frankie Burnham was
buried with him in about 1916, having died at the Old Farrington Hospital,
which, oddly enough, is practically in my back yard. Thanks for any
suggestions you might be able to give me.

Burial Question [posted 23 February 2004]
am a single female with a 10 lb. Black & Tan Dauchound which is my only child.Ý I recently lost my baby and went looking for a place where she and I could be laid to rest side by side.Ý I am totally appauled and discusted to find that no where to they allow me to lay my baby to rest.Ý I do however know without a doubt that other people have burried their animals in these so called human cemetaries.Ý
I have a hard time understanding why if that is my choice to put what is my only child in my world/mind why I am not allowed to put my only family member to rest with me in a lot that I have paid for.Ý
Please tell me why this discrimination is still allowed.Ý How can I expose this injustice.
