Bordered by York County, New Brunswick to the Northeast, Charlotte County, New Brunswick to the East, Aroostook County, ME to the North, and with the Bay of Fundy coastline as its southern boundary, Washington County holds the distinction of encompassing Lubec, Maine - the Easternmost point in the United States. The city of Machias is the county seat of Washington County, established June 25, 1789 and serving the towns of Addison, Alexander, Baileyville, Baring, Beals, Beddington, Calais, Centerville, Charlotte, Cherryfield, Codyville, Columbia, Columbia Falls, Cooper, Crawford, Cutler, Danforth, Deblois, Dennysville, East Machias, Eastport, Grand Lake Stream, Harrington, Jonesboro, Jonesport, Lubec, Machiasport, Marshfield, Meddybemps, Milbridge, Northfield, Pembroke, Perry, Princeton, Robbinston, Roque Bluffs, Steuben, Talmadge, Topsfield, Trescott, Vanceboro, Waite, Wesley, Whiting and Whitneyville.
NEW: Wesley Ridge Cemetery, Wesley, Maine
This past summer (Aug/Sept 2005), while on our honeymoon, my husband and I spent a couple of days walking around this cemetery, taking pictures and recording the information on a laptop. You know you've made the 'right choice' when you can do genealogical research on your honeymoon!
WANTED: Cemetery listings, documents, letters, pictures - anything you have related to Washington County that you are willing to share with other researchers! If you have pages that need to be transcribed, I am willing to accept copies via US Mail or scanned images via email. Happy 2006!It was a busy 2005 summer! I completed my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration through American Military University, the last 39 credits completed between July and December. I got married in August and gained a stepdaughter, and have begun graduate school this January, studying for my Masters in Strategic Intelligence with a concentration in Terrorism. So, while there have not been many updates to the site, there have been some new additions.
