Fredrick William Wheeler was one of 2 twin boys born 1867 & raised
on a dairy farm in upstate New York. He was the product of Irish
Catholic immigrant parents. In the 1880's he began working on oil
fields first as a worker, then as a foreman. He is known to have worked
on oil fields in Colorado, Indiana and eventually settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma,
in 1907 during a big oil boom.

He was married to Helen Brennan, daughter of Irish Catholic immigrants.
She was a working nurse, so the 2 kids (my great grandmother Marie & her younger
brother Daniel) practically raised themselves. Fred died in Tulsa in 1950. Fred's
twin, Frank, stayed on the dairy farm in upstate New York his whole life. Fred
visited the old farm a few times during his life.

In addition to working the oil fields in Tampico, he travelled to Costa Rica and
Panama on the same trip while working for Sinclair Oil. There aren't many photos
of him, but the ones that were passed down are those of him with family, those of
him at his old farm where he grew up and the ones of Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama.
He also saved his Spanish-English dictionary and his passport, ordered just for the
trip, both of which are in my possession.

the grandson of Fredrick William Wheeler.)
