Leonor de la GARZA (#722)

Birth Record: Born in 1616, in unknown locale.

Death Record: She died on 2 August 1688; in Monterrey.

Life Facts: Her parents were Capitan Blas de la Garza -#524
                 (1591 - 21 Feb 1669) and Beatriz Gonzales -#724
(1597 - 10 May 1670). Both of her parents were
members of the founding families of Monterrey. I
also learned that she had many siblings. The
children of her siblings would later marry with
other Serna offspring and resulting in interesting
                 family branches.

Leonor married Capitan Nicolas de la Serna Y
Alarcon -#960 in 1632. She bore three children to
her husband and she became the matriarch of the
respected Serna y Alarcon family of Monterrey.
This is the oldest Serna clan in Northern Mexico
to the best of my knowledge.

In July of 1671 she obtained permission to have
seats and a burial place in the parrish of
Monterrey. I am not sure what the meaning of
this entry is except that perhaps it is an
indication of her status in the community at
                 that time.
