Margarita Gertrudis RODRIGUEZ de Montemayor(#1771)
Birth Record: Born in 1714, probably in Monterrey.
Death Record: Unknown; but she was still living in 1745.
However she had passsed away by September of 1778.
Life Facts: Her parents were Miguel Rodriguez (#4252) and Lucia
de Saldivar (#1435). Interestingly her father,
Miguel, was the son of Ynes de la Garza - the sister
of Leonor de la Garza - the matriarch of the Serna y
Alarcon clan of Monterrey. As a side note margarita's
name also appears with "de Montemayor" added on the
end. That is because Ynes de la GArza was married to
Capt. Diego Rodriguez de Montemayor - the son of
Miguel de Montemayor one of the principle founders of
Monterrey. I would say she used it was a status
symbol.
From the census of el Valle de Guajuco 1745 I have
found her siblings listed as follows: Nicolas, Juan
Diego (married to Maria Xaviera Rodriguez), Antonia,
and Nicolas Joseph.
She was granted a Dispensation to marry Nicolas
Antonio de la Serna (#1770) on 09 June 1731.
She most probably married shortly after that date.
At some point she moved to Guajuco and it is there
that she had and raised her children.
She had four children that I am aware of. Joseph
Leonardo, Nicolas Antonio, Antonio Gregorio,
Antonio de Jesus.
