Mrs. M. Pattee Killed In Head-On Collision

A head-on collision on M-72, thirteen miles west of Harrisville took the life of Mrs. Merton PATTEE, of Curran, at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. PATTEE was a passenger in the car driven by her husband and Mr. and Mrs Gustav MULLER of Barton City were in the other car with Mr. MULLER driving.

Gillies Ambulance of Lincoln and Bennett Ambulance of Oscoda were summoned. Mrs. PATTEE was pronounced dead at the scene and the other three people were take to Alpena Hospital. Mr. PATTEE received broken ribs and facial cuts. He was treated and released Saturday.

The accident is still under investigation of the Alcona County Sheriff Department.

Obituary

Mrs. Merton PATTEE was the former Lena WIEDBRAUK, whose parents were Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Eliza FULLERTON) WIEDBRAUK. She was born January 27, 1895 in Curran and had spent her entire life there.

In 1914 she married Thomas LaFORGE at Curran, and he died in 1957. She married Merton PATTEE, who survives, in 1958.

Mrs. PATTEE was a member of the Curran Baptist Church and the W.C.T.U. Surviving besides her husband are one daughter, Mrs. James (Mildred) DAYTON of San Jose California; two sons, Thomas LaFORGE of Detroit and William LaFORGE of Harrisville; two brothers, Joseph and Walter WIEDBRAUK of Curran; one sister, Mrs. Louis MACFADDEN of Breedsville, Michigan; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Curran Baptist Church, with Rev. Merlin SKUSE officiating. Interment in the Curran Cemetery.
