Townships - Legal Descriptions

Legal descriptions of the surveyed townships do not always correspond to the political townships, especially where the political townships are not six miles square.  In Arenac County (*), the townships of Whitney, Sims, Lincoln and Standish are not six miles square.  The descriptions below are read as, "Township 20 North, Range 3 East of the Michigan Meridian".
