illustrations descriptive of its scenery, palatial residences, public
buildings, fine blocks and important manufactories:
p. 118 [Athens Township]
THE FIRST BURYING-GROUND
was laid off near the village of Branchville in 1837. It was on a lot donated by
Peter Beisel, in section 27. The first interment was that of Jacob Beisel,
son of the donor, who died the same year. [The tombstone clearly
says 1835, so either the History or the tombstone is slightly
incorrect.] |
