Miss McKenzie's Brother was not the one who Drowned.

She left immediately for Two Harbors to secure the remains. Shortly after she left the city it was found that is was another Dan McKenzie, son of Mrs. William Coleman, who resides on Sugar Island. Miss McKenzie was intercepted at Marquette by telephone and notified of the mistake. She continued her journey, however, and went to Two Harbors to make certain. The young man who was drowned was about 18 years of age, while her brother is 24 and is now in, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
The funeral was held yesterday from the home of the deceased's sister, Mrs. Roland F. Russell, 1004 Minneapolis Street. Mrs. Russell is in Toronto but could not be reached by telegram. The remains were interred in Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Warren Shewfelt of the city is a sister of the deceased.

MRS. O'JIBWAY IS DEAD
Widow of Former Chief and 98 Years Old
Famous Character Who Was the Associate of Daughters of John Johnston
Mrs. Isabel O'Jibway, widow of Chief Joseph O'Jibway, died last night
at the home of her son Joseph, on the Hay Lake road. She was the oldest
woman in the Soo, having lived nearly a century, her age being 98 years.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house.
Undertaker James R. Ryan will have charge of the burial. The deceased was
born at Fond du Lac, Wis., and came to this part of the country when an
infant. During the early years of her life she was a intimate friend of
the daughters of John Johnston, who was the first English speaking white
settler in this locality. When he died she attended the funeral. The elder
daughter married Henry R. Schoolcraft, the historian, who for many years
dwelt in the Soo and who pictured with his pen the true history of the
country. The death of Mrs. O'Jibway takes from the midst of the people
of northern Michigan one of the most interesting characters in the country.
She was one of the few who could look back to the time when the forest
bordered the St. Mary's river on other side, when the red man trod the
footpaths that led here and there among the trees in search of game. While
she lived it was possible to hear the story of the early settlements told
by one who had taken part in the work of that time, but now the story must
be told exclusively by the printed page. No matter how much good can be
found in the things of modern life, nor how much more convenient the mode
of living, there is something in the story of the pioneer days to hold
the attention of the listener. It will be but a short time before every
pioneer will be gone, and in their passing the present generation is losing
characters that will be sincerely missed.
