Joseph Campbell has accepted a position in the Victoria sample rooms.

Ed Penny returned Tuesday from Rhinelander, Wis., where he spent the winter.

The exterior and interior of Otto Supe's jewelry store on Ashmun Street has been repainted.

Thos. Christy arrived in the city Monday from Minneapolis to assume the management of the Bradley Watkins Co's. mill at Neaseville.
A. M. Mathews and William Ruehle have joined interests and will commence business on a painting and decorating firm about May 1.

Revs. C.P. Bates, S.L. Clark and J. McMillan were in attendance at a meeting of the Lake Superior Presbytery, at Gladstone, this week.

Capt. J.W. Duddleson left Monday for Buffalo to superintend the outfitting of the steamer Waldo, which he will again command this season.

Mrs. L.H. Conley and daughter and Mrs. Eliza Sharpe, Mrs. Conley's mother, left Thursday for a month's visit in New York and other cities.

Mme. M.E. Harris is expected home Monday from a winter's sojourn in the south, and will again assume charge of her hair dressing parlors.

John Thornton, who spent the winter in the city with his parents has gone to Marquette to assume his duties as captain of J.M. Longyear's yacht.

Daniel O'Hare, who was arrested last week for larceny, was acquitted Tuesday by Judge Conrick.  The evidence was insufficient to convict him.

James L. Holihan has returned from a winter's sojourn in the Wisconsin woods.  Mr. Holihan has accepted a position with the T.H. Riddle Construction company.

Clarence, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. James Bassett had the misfortune to fall and cut himself on a piece of broken china, Tuesday, inflicting a bad wound in his left cheek.

Miss Laura Knox has resigned her position in Judge A. R. Macdonnell's office.  She left yesterday for Houghton, where she will reside with her sister, Mrs. William Metzger.

The delivery team of the Toledo Brewing Co., ran away Wednesday morning on Ashmun Street and in its flight smashed a stove of the Chippewa Hardware Co. that was standing on the sidewalk.  No other damage done.

Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Kraft and family will leave the Soo the latter part of the month for Marquette, their future home.  As the Upper Peninsula representative of Burnham, Stoepel & Co., Mr. Kraft will have his headquarters in that city.
