I'm your webmistress Beth. I'm related to Harsen's Island through marriage <g>. My husband has regularly spent time on the Island as long as he can remember. First, his family visited his aunt, Mrs. Dondaro, there when he was very young. Then his parents bought a cottage on the South Channel. The family spent a lot of time there and when his parents retired they lived there during the warmer seasons.

A couple of years ago my brother-in-law bought the cottage and has done a lot of remodeling. He winterized it, closed in the front porch and is now adding an upstairs. It barely looks like the same place.

You may have seen them around the Island. They are hard to miss with 6 (yes, you read it right - SIX!!!) Newfoundler's. Their Newf Bogart won 'Best of Breed' at the Westminster Dog Show a few years ago. They are on the Island most weekends and plan to retire there. They are David and Lynn Roszel - if you see them around, tell them Beth says, 'hey' and please tell them to send me some photos for this webpage!!!

I hope to grow this webpage to include more memories, reflections and interesting photos of the Island. I had hoped to get up to the Island this summer to get some pictures and more information to put on the website - but a series of circumstances kept me from getting there.

I have put a little information and some photos on here - but I hope to add more and make it an interesting and informative site for anyone connected with Harsen's Island. Please feel free to email me or send me photos, family histories, anything you want to share about the Island, families connected to the Island or photos. The only restrictions are the usual ones - no porn, information harmful or embarrassing to persons living or dead, etc. If you aren't sure - just ask.

I'm excited about doing this site and hope you will enjoy it and share your own memories and photos of life on Harsen's Island.

Special thanks to Melon Schrieo of the Harsen's Island News for her support in doing this site. She has a great site with daily news about the Island. An article about her efforts was printed in the The Times Herald on September 21, 2004. If you want information about the Island, Melon's site is the place to go.

Meanwhile - send in your info and I'll put it on the site - AND

thanks for visiting :)
