County's
Tompkins Twp., sections 10 and 14, respectively. They moved to Calhoun
County,
where Christie died in 1884, but Mariah was listed in the 1890 veteran

HILLS killed by Chesapeake & OHIO Train
PLEASE HELP! I have found the following obituaries, undated, and I need to
know the name of the person involved and his family's names if possible. In
one account he is listed as C.W. HILLS, but in another he is listed as W.C.
HILLS. His father is J.C. HILLS.
"The funeral of...HILLS, who was killed in Virginia, was held, Thursday
afternoon, at 1 O'clock, at the home of his father J.C. HILLS, in Blackman
{MI}. Deceased was 23 years old and had been at work for the Chesapeake and
Ohio road but for 3 days when he was killed. He was in the act of stepping
into the cab of an engine, when he slipped and fell under the wheels, death
resulting from internal injuries as he was rolled along the tracks beneath
the locomotive. He is survived by father and mother, a sister and three
brothers, one of the latter, M.E. HILLS being an engineer on the Cincinnati
Northern road. Interment was made at Rives {MI}."
The other obituary reads:
"The funeral of...HILLS, the unfortunate Jackson young man who was killed in
Hinton, W. Va., Saturday by falling and slipping under the wheels of a
Chesapeake and Ohio Train, was held from the residence of his father, J.C.
HILLS, Blackman, Thursday afternoon at 1 O'clock. Mr. HILLS at the time of
his death had been employed only two days as a brakeman of the Chesapeake
and Ohio."

I found an obit in the Escanaba Morning Press, dated 11 July, 1909, which
tells of the death of Henry Bush at the age of 66, which puts his birth year
at 1843. The article refers to his funerary rites being performed by the
G.A.R. His brother, Joseph Bush, my g-g-grandfather, was living in Escanaba
at the time of Henry's death in Montana. I have had a devil of a time
pinning this man down.
I have gone through the entire rosters of the 87,000 Michigan Civil War
enlistees between 1861-1865 and only came up with one Henry C. BUSH, age 18
at the time of his enrollment in Co. F of the 20th Mich. Infantry. However,
it indicated that Henry C. BUSH was from Grass Lake, Jackson County, MI.
Specifically, I was wondering if you knew someone who would be willing to
search the 1860 census for me to determine if I have the correct Henry Bush.
Henry would have been about 17 and his brother would have been Joseph, but
may or may not have been living with the family at the time. I suspect that
their father's name may have been Joseph also, but am not certain. They
should have been born in Canada, but that is uncertain, as well. Some
family given names have come down through the generations, so I think I
would be able to recognize the family. I would be happy to pay for any
expenses incurred.
Any assistance you might be willing to provide, would be enormously
appreciated! Thank you so much for taking the time to consider this
request.

Looking for info on surname "Guinan", as far back as you can get. My father
lives in Michigan, but we are estranged, and I'm not sure where. I think I
have an aunt Genoveve(not sure of spelling) in Grass Lake. My father and
grandfathers names were Lawrence Edward, Sr. and Jr. My grandfather is
deceased. I'm not sure when, but I know he lived in Michigan at the time.
Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated.

I would like to be given the name and email of someone who is willing to do
some research for a fee in the Jackson County area -- more specifically
Horton and Hanover township.
The surname is Tripp. Abial Tripp was the first settler in this area. What
I need is someone to look though different references and copy what
information they can find. I am willing to pay for $10 / hour plus costs to
have this done.
