Halifax County was formed in 1752 from
Lunenburg County, and included the present Virginia counties of Pittsylvania,
Henry, Franklin, and Patrick
Halifax County, Virginia, Plea Book 152
consists of abstracts of Plea Book 1. It includes court orders for
administration and inventory of estates, deed and dower acknowledgements,
bills of sale, deeds of gift, leases, powers of attorney, appointments
of militia officers, Constitutional officers of the county, lists of the
establishment of roads, mills, ferries, ordinaries, etc., as well as petitions
for debts due.
