Notes:

The children of James M. Goad (Goard) and Margaret Shockley were:

Robert Peter Goad (m. Caroline Julie Ann Stephens)

Mary M. Goad (m. Eli Dodson)

Thomas Goad (m. Elizabeth Rebecca Jones)

Alexander S. Goad (m. (1) Jane Henderson (2) Jane Cantrell Wilmoth)

 Isabelle Goad (m. Nathan Driver)

 Ephraim C. Goad (m. (1) Susannah E. Partridge (2) Nancy A. Fulton)

James Madison Goad (M. Rebecca Fisher)

 Margaret Goad (m. George Wood)

1 At the time that this legal instrument was made, Robert Goad, Mary Goad Dodson and Eli Dodson were deceased. In the line which includes "the titles of James Goard, Robert Goard, and Ephraim Goard," Robert Goard probably should have been Thomas Goard. All of the rest of the offspring of James and Margaret are mentioned with Robert appearing twice, while Thomas is not mentioned at all. It is unlikely that there would have been two sons by the name of Robert.

 2. This deed may have been made to assure a clear title to land in the estate of James Goad dec'd. Some of the direct heirs were deceased and others were not in the local area able to sign the deed (They were likely in northwest Arkansas)
