This indenture entered into this twenty-eighth day of October in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifteen, between Thomas Randal, of the County of Maury, and the State of Tennessee, of the one part, and Thomas Goad of the County and State aforesaid of the hand paid Wit, that the said Randal for and in the consideration of the sum of seventy dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath this day bargained and sold, and doth by these presents bargain, sell and convey unto the said Goad, a certain tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the County and State aforesaid, being a part of a five thousand acre tract of land, granted to Charles Partee.  Beginning at a Hackberry Benton's N. E. corner, thence running sixty three poles & half to a stake in Benton's line, Thence east one hundred and twenty six poles and a half to a stake, thence to sixty three and a half to a stake, thence to the beginning, including in the whole 50 acres.  The aforesaid Randall doth by these presents bind himself, his heirs, Executors, administrators to, to warrant and defend, and from all and every claim and every claim unto said Goad, the aforesaid tract of land, with all appurtenances thereunto annexed to him, his heirs or assigns forever.

On the back of the above deed was written:

State of Tenn., Maury County Court, Feby. session 1816
  Then the within Deed of Conveyance was produced in open court, and ackowledge by Thomas Randall, and ordered to be certified for registration.
  In testimony whereof, I, Joseph B. Porter, Clerk of said Court of Items and quarter sessions for said County, have hereunto subscribed my name and office, This 3d day of Feby 1817
