From: Kenneth Haas, 3/2/2001:  Robert Goad, Jr. married Polly "Mahon". Note the spellings here of Goad neighbors McMahon, McMahan, which leads me to believe Polly was actually a McMahan., the most commonly-used spelling in that neighbohood.

I agree with Ken on this.  I think it's simply a case that in some documents, the "Mc" was being dropped by whoever the "scribe" was - MpG
