The Mission House was the the center of the Christian Mission to convert
Indians who lived on the island. It is used for state employee housing today. When
the Indian children who were living there became sick with TB they were locked in
the cool damp cellar because it was thought that this would help them. But it didn't.
State employees reports the ghosts of children all over the basement and first two
floors of the house. Often ghostly forms of children can been seen walking around
inside the house at night.
