Reynolds Township
The Detroit, Grand Rapids and Western Railroad depot opened in 1869, about a year after the first settlers to the area. Reynolds Township's only village was named for William A. Howard, a railroad attorney. It became incorporated as a village in 1873. Between the years of 1875 and 1899 the village was known as simply Howard.
