His mother's name may have been JENNY FORKS but I have also seen it

info was found on public records that indicate he had to depend on
someone else to fill out the forms as he couldn't read or write so
I don't know how dependable the info is. He was my father, i am an

I presently have a copy of her marriage certificate, extracted from

Toronto, Ontario CA, which indicates her marriage to Henry AUBIE on
Feb. 13, 1871 at Eganville,
Renfrew County Ontario CA. She was 17 years old at the time of this
marriage. Henry AUBIE allegedly
was a French Canadian surveyor who traveled to Michigan and was forced
to stay there during a very
severe winter. During that winter he was allowed to stay with Chippewa
Indians where he met and
married Saladine BELISLE, perhaps in a tribal ceremony, later in a
clergy officiated ceremony. Can
anyone assist me in verifying that my great grandmother Saladine BELISLE
was a Chippewa Indian?

Comments: I am trying to help my half-sister,who lives in Oregon and
doesn't have a computer, research her mother's side of the family.
Her grandfather's name was Joseph Shampine from the Cheboygan area.
Her mother's name was Donna and last name changed to Miller when she
was adopted by her mother's sister, Evangaline (Cleary) Miller. Joseph
worked for her great grandfather, a Mr. Cleary, as a fisherman.Any
