ABOUT US

The Northville Genealogical Society was organized on 24 June 1987 and is located in the northwest section of Wayne County bordering Oakland County.  We meet at 1:15 for Genealogy Roundtable Discussions, followed by the general meeting at 2:30 p.m.  Meetings are held on the second Sunday of the month (unless noted) in the Carlos Meeting Room of the Northville District Library (212 W. Cady Street, 248-349-3020).  We warmly welcome prospective new members.

INDEX TO NORTHVILLE OBITS

Names and death dates are listed for persons who are Northville residents or have Northville roots. There are obituaries on file. You may request a scanned copy of an obit to be emailed for a $5.00 fee or a snail-mail copy with a self-addressed, stamped envelope for a $5.00 fee.

This is an ongoing project.

NGS Joins the World Archives Project

Northville Genealogical Society has recently joined Farmington Genealogical Society in sponsoring a Michigan database on ancestry.com’s World Archives Project – Michigan Passenger and Crew Lists, 1902-1954.  We encourage everyone with an interest in Michigan genealogy to help us key these records.  Society members will have access to the images when the project has been completed, while everyone will have free access to the index.

You need not have an ancestry.com subscription to participate.  Just CLICK HERE to download the keying tool from ancestry (you must register, but it’s free) and start transcribing records.  Thank you.
