History of the Society

In 1978 the Society was incorporated as a non-profit organization.

We are dedicated to preserving the history of Ogemaw County and its families.

Among our goals is to collect and preserve materials which may to illustrate the history of our area.

We are located at

123 South 5th St.

The split stone building which houses the museum was built by Garvis Weiler in the 1930's.  It had been a residence until the time of its purchase by the Society.

Admission to the museum is Free!

We are open Thursday and Friday 10:00-2:00.  Anyone wishing more information or to schedule a private tour at a different time should call the Curator (989) 345-1643

Meetings are always open to the public.  They are the first Tuesday of the month April thru December at 7:00p.m.

Society members are willing to help you with your research needs or family history.
