Joseph C. Latuszek, age 92, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001. He was born on March 26, 1909 in Gaylord and raised in Flint and Gaylord. He married Julia Samkowiak on July 23, 1937 and farmed the family farm that he inherited. He also worked for Standard Products for approximately 23 years.

Mr. Latuszek liked to travel and eat good food. He liked gardening, his flowers and playing the piano. He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral parish and the Knights of Columbus as a charter member. He served as the second Grand Knight of Council No. 2781. He loved his children and grandchildren very much.

Mr. Latuszek is survived by his wife, Julia; children, Victor (Shirley) of Pinconning, Jerry (Jackie) of Gaylord, Delphine Fahler of Gaylord, Lorraine (Jim) Szocinski of Harbor Springs; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Latuszek was the last surviving child of Veronica and Peter Latuszek. He was preceded in death by his parents and 14 siblings.

Funeral services for Mr. Latuszek were on Friday, Nov. 16 from St. Mary Cathedral, the Rev. John McCracken officiating. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Thursday at the Nelson Funeral Home and Friday at the church.

An Altar Rosary Society Rosary and a Knights of Columbus Rosary was offered Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Michigan or to St. Mary Cathedral School through the Nelson Funeral Home.
