OBITUARY

Mr. Aaron Starks, son of Hurum and Sarah A. Starks, was born in Pennsylvania, January 30, 1838.

He was married to Miss. Mary Parsons, March 20, 1870, at Newfield, New York. To this union two children, Helen and Hattie were born.

The mother passed on August 20, 1880.

Mr. Starks was married again on July 20, 1882 to Mary E. Stark, and one child, Caroline E. was born to this union. Caroline passed away January 2, 1910, at the age of 24 years, and the mother, Mary E., died August 21, 1913.

Since that time Mr. Starks has lived with, and was tenderly cared for by his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Loop, of Elmira. He passed away at their home Sunday, June 23, 1929, at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 23 days. He leaves to mourn their loss, two daughters Helen Laurentz [Lorentz] and Hattie Loop, four grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Mr. Starks and family came from Newfield, New York to Elmira, Michigan in 1880, and has lived here continuously since that time, a loyal citizen and friend. He has seen the place change from a dense forest, to a beautiful farming country. He was for years a member of the board of education and often held township offices and bore his share of the burdens of pioneer life, and was a member of the Presbyterian Church from the time it was organized until his death.

Mr. Starks was active until the last and seldom missed going to the post office every day for his paper, which he read with interest, keeping in touch with political and national questions.

He will be missed by a host of friends who have watched his strength ebbing away, but were happy to see him able to enjoy and take an interest in life.
