Stalwart (Special Correspondence)
On of the items of interest to the people of Stalwart is the approaching golden wedding of Rev. and Mrs. Andrew Sims, who are the oldest and among the most highly esteemed people the in settlement. They will celebrate their golden wedding on May 13th, and they expect almost their whole family will unite in their father's house once more. Mr. Sims was born in the city of Aberdeen, Scotland on Oct 7, 1825, and from there he came to Ontario with his parents, at the age of 12 years, where he resided until the year 1880, when he moved to Michigan to the farm where he now resides with his wife. Mrs. Sims whose maiden name was Mary Thomas, was born in the vicinity of London, England, where she lived until the age of seven years, when she removed with her parents to Canada, where afterwards met the man who subsequently became her husband. They were married on the 13th of May, 1846, and for half a century have lived together in the greatest harmony and in peace with their fellow-man. Twelve children came to bless that happy, home; eight sons and four daughters and with the one exception all are living to help celebrate their parents golden wedding. The old people expect a grand reunion of Sim's and "Little Phil" extends his hearty congratulations to them. For many years Rev. Sims was pastor of the Advent Christian church in Howick, Ont, and in his labours was ably assisted by his noble wife.
