Jay E. Leathorn & Mae McClung
"A pretty home wedding took place Friday evening (July 29, 1927) at the residence of Mrs. Wm. Kelch, Pine Street, when her son, Jay E. Leathorn, and Miss Mae McClung, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. John McClung, of Standish, were united in marriage. The bride's father gave her away and also performed the ceremony, which followed the arrival of the bride and groom under a lovely bridal arch of pink and white. The bride who descended the stairs with her father to the strains of Wagner's bridal chorus from "Lohengrin." She was lovely in a gown of pale blue changeable taffeta, and carried sweet peas and white roses with bebe breath. Her maid of honor was Miss Ellen Leathorn, a sister of the groom, who wore a becoming frock of pale blue georgette and carried pink rose buds and bebe breath. Walter Redmond attended the groom. A reception followed the ceremony, and refreshments were served at a table having for a center a large wedding cake in pink and white with a minature bridal couple. Mr. and Mrs. Leathorn left for a trip through Michigan and will be at home upon their return, on White Street."

Viola A. Leathorn - Obituary
Per Death Record #412 - Book 8, page l46
Gender: Female
Race: White
Marital Status: Married - (John Leathom)
Date of Death: June 7, 1938
Place of Death: Port Huron
Cause of Death: Cerebral Hemorrhage Myocarditis, Edema
Age at Time of Death: 72 years, 4 months, 5 days
Parents: John & Adelia Pettit
Parents' Residence: New York

- I have been searching for my great grandmothers birth/marriage record and have not found it. I believe she married in Lyndonville or Carlton, New York. I have checked the census of New York and did find a Stephen Pettit with wife, Adelia. I have come to the conclusion that her dad may have been reported incorrectly as I have not found a John listed.
- There is a Stephen H. Pettit & wife, Adetia S. listed in the 1850 Census, Orleans Co, NY in the Town of Carlton along with a son, Eugene E. then again listed in the 1855 Census but wife is listed as: Adeline along with sons: Eugene E., Franklin M., William H. They are listed in the 1865 Census, town of Carlton with children: Eugene, Franklin, William, Viola and Edith. In the 1875 census Viola is not listed with the family which now lists: Adeline Pettit being a widow, husband was: Stephen. Her children William, Edith & Fred are living with her. Viola at this time is probably married as I find her listed in the 1875 Census, Orleans Co., NY in the town of Carlton with Adin Fellows who is 29, his wife, Viola, 19, with their children Adella 3y4m and Albert 5mos.

William Leathorn & Lena Fellows

William Leathorn, 35 yrs, White, r. Port Huron, b. Canada, Blacksmith, P: Thomas Lhorn & Mary Lyon, married twice before
Lena Fellows, 18, White, r. Port Huron, b. Texas, P: Hayden Fellows & unknown, no previous marriage
Witnesses: Viola Fellows & Mrs. G.H. Whitney, both of Port Huron; G.H. Whitney, Pastor
Source: Marriage Rec. #645, Book l, page 312

- Lena was born Apr. 28, 1884 in Lincoln, Nebraska therefore she was not 18 years old but 13, her dad's name was: Adin Fellows; not Hayden Fellows and her mother was: Viola (Pettit) Fellows who witnessed the wedding. Last name LThorn is in error and should read Leathorn.
