"Resident 48 Years Dies in Marine City"
Marine City, Aug. 26--Mrs. Rose Stockwell, 72, resident here 48 years, died Monday night in the Charles Mann home, North River road, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Stockwell was taken to the Charles Mann home shortly after she suffered a stroke in June.
Mrs. Stockwell came to Marine City at the time of her marriage to John Stockwell, who died July 14, 1935. She was born Feb. 7, 1869, daughter of the late Adam and Mary Schabel, and was the oldest of 12 children, all of whom survive her.
She is survived by three sons, Daniel and Adam Stockwell, both of Detroit, and John Stockwell, Marine City; four sister, Mrs. Frances Markel, Munger, Mich; Mrs. Alvia Mills, Bay City; Mrs. Peter Bittner, Saginaw, and Mrs. John Endress, Marine City; seven brothers, Edward and Frank Schabel, both of Munger; Louis and Paul Schabel, both of Bay City; William Schabel, Oklahoma; Joseph Schabel, Benton, Ark.; and John Schabel, Detroit; two near relatives who made their home with her, Joseph L. Stockwell, Marine City, and Mrs. Walter Sharrow, Algonac, and 23 grandchildren, three of whom lived with her, Luke, Richard and Robert Stockwell.
The remains are in the A. Friedrichs funeral home. Rev. Walter J. Rottach, pastor, will officiate at funeral services at 9 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic church, of which Mrs. Stockwell was a member. She was also a member of the Altar society of the church.
