MEDAL OF HONOR DEDICATION On May 13, 1pm
On May 13, 2006 at 1pm. the General Benjamin Pritchard Camp 20 SUVCW will
be conducting the John G. K. Ayers Medal of Honor Gravestone Dedication,
Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers, St. Joseph County, Michigan. He has just
received a new Medal of Honor gravestone recently!
A private in Company H, 8th Missouri Infantry, Mr. Ayers earned the Civil
War Congressional Medal of Honor on May 22, 1863, at the Battle of
Vicksburg, Mississippi, he showed great courage in the charge of the
"Forlorn Hope, Volunteer Storming Party" against the Confederates.
He and ten others were awarded the Medal of Honor for their deeds at this
conflict.


MEDAL OF HONOR DEDICATION on July 1st, 2006 at 11am
On July 1st at 11 am, the General Benjamin Pritchard Camp 20 Sons of Union
Veterans of the Civil War, will be conducting the
Phillipp Schlachter MEDAL OF HONOR Gravestone Dedication.
Mr. Schlachter was born in Germany and served in the United States Army
as a private during the Civil War in the 73rd New York Infantry, Company F.
He is interred at Oaklawn Cemetery, Sturgis, Michigan.
He still has several relatives living in St Joseph County!
He earned The Medal of Honor During the Civil War for heroism May 12, 1864
at Spotsylvania, Virginia.
Phillipp Schlachter captured the flag of the 15th Louisiana Infantry.
