Leonard K. Jillson

Leonard K. Jillson was the son of Joseph and Betsy (King) Jillson and brother to Alden Jillson. Leonard married Charlotte Augusta Phillips in 1867. Leonard and his wife came to Michigan in 1868 and were two of the South Haven area's pioneers. At the beginning of the Civil War, he enlisted as a Private in the 12th Michigan Infantry and served during the entire war. He was 2nd Lt.of Co. H, 12th Michigan Veteran Volunteers when he was discharged. Leonard and Betsy had eight chidlren: Charles, Harry, Stanley, LeRoy, George, William, Lottie and Grant. He and Charlotte are both buried at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
