The purpose of this MNGenWeb Project site is to provide a collection
of genealogical information and resources for Cook County. Our goal is to
include transcription of many public records, such as, census, marriage,
and cemetery records and to provide a forum for freely sharing that information.
What is the USGenWeb & MNGenWeb Project? In 1996,
a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database.
The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky,
where collected information & databases would be stored. In addition,
it would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were
found in more than one county, they could be located in the index. This
led to the USGenWeb of which Minnesota is a part. There is also a WorldGenWeb.
