Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic


Membership Information


We welcome women who would like to participate in the historical, educational and patriotic activities of the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic (LGAR). Membership in the LGAR is a unique opportunity to establish our lineage and heritage as a descendent of a Union Veteran of the Civil War. Volunteering through the LGAR is a wonderful way to honor our ancestors and recognize these Veterans' roles in preserving the United States of America.


A Daughter of the Regiment


Eligibility

Membership is open to female descendents, and legally adopted daughters
(daughters, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, 2nd great-granddaughters, nieces, grandnieces, great-grandnieces, 2nd great-grandnieces, etc) ten (10) years of age or over,
of honorably discharged Union soldiers, sailors, marines and former army nurses of
the Civil War, 1861 to 1865.


Criteria

Prove bloodline descent from an ancestor who served the Union;
Document each statement of birth, marriage and death in the line;
Document the ancestor's honorable service in the Civil War; and
Be a minimum of 10 years of age.
