Tips for Searching the Index to  Germanic Genealogy Journal

This alphabetical index lists topics in Germanic genealogy found in articles published in the Germanic Genealogy Journal.

(It is not a surname index.)

  • Click the first letter of the topic. For example, P for Pomerania.
  • On the page for that letter, say P, browse the topics by scrolling.
  • Use the “find on this page” search feature of your Internet browser to locate a topic or author.
  • The topics include
    • each German region of Europe,
    • many U.S. states,
    • general topics, like “How-To Articles” and “Book Reviews,”
    • German genealogy topics, like “German History,” “German Language,” and “German Records.”

To obtain a copy of the article, note the issue volume and number, and then

  • return to the Journal web page and see if that issue is available online, or
  • read the copy in the GGS Library Collection in St. Paul, MN, or check with your local genealogy or history library to find a copy, or
  • purchase a back issue from GGS, by clicking “Obtain Back Issues from GGS.”
